Elvive vs. Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm
Is It Worth It?

What they both claim to do vs what they do?
Both Claim:
-          To help fight the 5 signs of damage – Split ends, weakness, roughness, dullness and dehydration.
-          Instantly repair up to one year of damage in just 1 use.
What they do? (Based on results of 10-day trial*)
Both Do:
The older Formula (Advanced Hair Care) does exactly what it claims in just 1 use. Consequently, I achieved this with the newer formula (EL VIVE) on Day 5. To be fair, I did a quick at home dye job on Day 1. That said, it could’ve worked its magic on Day 3 rather than Day 5 given those same circumstances if it had the same power as the original formula.
Price:
The price has stayed at the same range of $5.99 - $7.99 online & in stores. I think it is priced fairly compared to similar drugstore hair masks on the market.
 How to use?
As a Hair Mask: Leave on for 3-5 minutes after shampooing, then rinse. (Time on depends on hair length thickness, and damage)
As a Leave-in Conditioner: As a good rule of thumb, use a dime-sized amount on your palms and run this through your hair – avoid clogging your follicles, don’t apply on or near scalp and roots.
My Favorite Use – Detangle Spray:  In an empty spray add 1 to 5 parts of mask to water ratio. Shake the bottle for 1 minute. Spray generously on dry or damp hair and brush your hair.
Or follow the instructions on the back of the bottle.
Smell:
The smell has floral and faint fruit notes. I do not find it to be overbearing or smell of chemicals.
Is It Worth It?
Yes! Although it takes longer than the alleged one day, it does its job. You, however, must be consistent. The longer you use the mask, the better your hair looks and feels. For rough over-dyed, dry, brittle or weak hair I would suggest using every day. For all other hair types I suggest using 2-3 times a week.
·         Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars
And the winner is?
The previous formula (Advanced Haircare)!
Why?
I have been using the original formula for a little over two years. It provides a quick healthy dose of moisture to my over processed hair on day one. The older formula has less water than the newer formula causing the hair to feel heavy or weighed down.
*** Disclosure: I was not compensated for my post; however, I did receive a sample for my review. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way. ***
